Arduino UNO SMD Microcontroller Development Board - Arduino Compatible
- Ex Tax: RM28.00
- Product Code: UNO SMD R3
- Availability: In Stock
The Uno R3 SMD is a budget alternative to the Arduino Uno Boards. It is equipped with an ATMEL AVR ATmega328P microcontroller and a updated USB-controller for cost reduction. The specifications are equal to Arduino Uno R3.
Special SMD Version:
Because Atmel is moving more and more of their production capacity to surface mount ICs, the DIP packaged ATmega is becoming more and more difficult to get. To keep up with demand, we now offer the Arduino Uno R3 with an SMD ATmega. The board is identical to the PTH version of the Uno, but you won't be able to remove the ATmega without some hot-air. This change shouldn't affect most users. Besides - when was the last time you managed to destroy an ATmega and needed to repair an Arduino board? Those things are nearly indestructible.
*Note: Arduino IDE old version 1.0.6 is needed to programe this board.
*Please note that the boards have a CH340G USB-Controller rather than ATmega16 like regular UNO. They are recognized on Linux without any additional drivers. Mac OS and Windows users may need to install an additional driver.

Frequently Asked Questions:
- Are these 100% compatible with the "normal" Arduino's?
Yes, they really are 100% completely compatible with "normal" Arduino's. Build quality looks the same and everything (studio, library, tools, etc) just works. You may read the reviews.
- What if I'm still concerned about this being named as "Arduino Compatible"?
If still in doubt, please buy from Arduino's official dealer channels. Yes they are more expensive. We use these internally ourselves for various electronic projects and find them to be 100% decent (again, check reviews). That said, we do not make these and we are providing all the information we know.
