The PN523 Near Field Communication (NFC) reader/writer is based on the NXP PN532 chip, and is capable of reading and writing to all NFC compliant RFID tags, as well as Mifare Classic tags like the Mifare S50 based xM1. It also supports the NFC peer-to-peer standard, so two of these devices can talk to each other, or you can set up a peer session with a mobile phone. The board also has several switch-selectable I/O modes including I2C, SPI, and HSU (high-speed UART).

Interfaces
The I2C and HSU shares the same pins. The definition of IIC pins is printed at front and the HSU’s is printed at the back. The HSU mode is configured as the default mode. But you could change the interface by setting the toggle switch.
