The WeMos D1 Mini family of boards is one of the latest additions to the ESP8266-based IoT ecosystem. The WeMos D1 Mini Real-Time Clock Shield allows you to add a Real-Time Clock (RTC) to your WeMos mini or mini Pro development boards. Using an RTC is the best way to keep track of time in your projects, for instance, when time-stamping data captured by a sensor (data logging).
The WeMos D1 Mini RTC Shield is designed so that pins D2 (SDA) and D1 (SCL) are connected to the DS1307 real-time clock chip's I2C pins onboard. The I2C interface of the shield has a fixed address of 0x68. The DS1307 RTC is a low-cost, low-power real-time clock IC that can maintain full clock and calendar, i.e., hours, minutes, seconds as well as year, month and day. As with all RTCs, it maintains track of time even if the microcontroller loses power using a backup CR1220 battery (not included).

Each board in this kit includes a pair of Male, Female, Long Female pin headers for you to choose. Soldering is required for installing the header pins!

Could direct mount on D1 Mini or the I2C wires "SDA" and "SCL" are the data line and clock line, they should be connected to the corresponding pins depending on the Arduino board.
